Climate
Costa Rica is a tropical country and experiences only two season, wet and dry. The dry season is generally between late December and April and the wet season is May through November. The Caribbean Coast tends to be somewhat wetter all year round. Temperatures vary little between seasons. The main influence on temperature is altitude. San Jose has a climate which the locals refer to as "Eternal Spring" with lows averaging 15 degrees C and highs 26 degrees C. The coasts, at lower altitude, are somewhat hotter with temperatures averaging 21 degrees overnight and 30 degrees during the day. Clothing
Pack light for your travels. The highland areas can be quite cold at night, so pack a sweater. Lowland areas light, loose-fitting shirts and pants are essential. Hat, lotion and sunglasses are recommended for the beach. Electricity/Hospitals/Water
110 volt AC is found nationwide. Healthcare in Costa Rica is very good and sanitary standards are reasonable. First class hospitals are found throughout San Jose and larger populated areas. Water is safe to drink but we still recommend bottled water for tourists visiting the country.
